This property consists of 44 legal fee-simple absolute lots. The property was subdivided decades ago with only two homes constructed. The location is on the corner of CA State Route 166 & Bell Drive, situated 1/3 mile west of the Cuyama Buckhorn Resort. New Cuyama is a gorgeous high desert spot with truly spectacular, sweeping views of 7,500 acres of wine grapes and mountain ranges on all sides. A leisurely one-hour drive from Hwy 101 on CA State Route 166 takes you to Bell Drive, about one-third mile before the town of New Cuyama. The property is a 5-minute drive to the New Cuyama Airport.
The forty-four available lots range in size from 6,000 to 7,200 Sq.Ft. and above. The asking price of $750,000 calculates to $17,045 per lot.
The property situated in Cuyama Valley, which is between the Central Coast and the Central Valley. Building permits are almost in hand, and the sewer line and municipal water are stubbed at the corner of the property on Hwy 166. We are close to being shovel ready.
Designed in 1952 by George Vernon Russell, the architect behind Las Vegas’ Flamingo hotel, the Buckhorn motel, restaurant and saloon, just five minutes from the property, served as a social and community hub in Cuyama for decades. During the oil boom heyday, when the town of New Cuyama was built and marketed as the “Hidden Valley of Enchantment” to entice workers and their families, ARCO executives flown in to inspect the fields would later carouse until the small hours back at the saloon.
New Cuyama Valley encompasses an area of approximately 300 square miles (780 km2). It is bounded on all sides by mountains: the Sierra Madre Mountains along the south and west, La Panza Range on the north, and Caliente Range along the northeast − all of the California Coast Ranges System; and the San Emigdio Mountains on the east. New Cuyama is in Santa Barbara County.
The headwaters of the Cuyama River are just north of Pine Mountain Summit on State Route 33. The valley widens from the river's entry to a maximum width near the highway junction of Routes 166 and 33, near the corner of the four counties. Then it narrows again as the river flows west out of the valley through a narrow canyon between the Sierra Madre and La Panza ranges, to the Santa Maria Valley and its river mouth on the Pacific Ocean.
Cuyama Buckhorn is nestled within The Hidden Valley of Enchantment, a peaceful oasis, which sits in the middle of 4 counties just on the other side of Los Padres National Forest from Santa Barbara. We offer an intimate getaway filled with thoughtfully crafted meals, a bar where conversation flows effortlessly and revitalized rooms with stylistic nods to the past. Our valley rests between star-filled night skies, for some of the best stargazing in California and pastoral golden mountains boasting hiking trails and breathtaking wildflowers. The joy of shared experiences and creative spirit at Cuyama Buckhorn creates a connection to the natural beauty of Cuyama Valley.
