Designed by Daniel Burnham & John Root in 1888, the Rookery was a key example of early "tall" building design. Frank Lloyd Wright supervised an interior renovation in 1905, redesigning the lobby and light court. This renovated building includes new HVAC, electrical, life safety and telcommuncations systems, new elevators and refurbished windows throughout the entire structure.
