Milan is a village in Rock Island County, Illinois, United States. The village is on the Rock River in northwest Illinois, about 4 miles upstream of its outlet to the Mississippi. The village is the site of the south campsites which comprised the Sauk and Fox village of Saukenuk, once the second-largest Native American inhabitation in North America. Milan is located near the Quad Cities of Illinois and Iowa. Rock Island is part of the Quad Cities area which consists of Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline in Illinois, and Davenport and Bettendorf on the Iowa side of the river. The Quad Cities area combined population is close to 400,000.
