2022 YTD Equity REIT Offerings by Sector ($B)
REIT capital raising was off to a strong start in January, S&P Global Intelligence reported.
As of Jan. 31, 2022, publicly traded U.S. equity REITs raised approximately $2.22 billion through capital offerings. Common equity offerings accounted for 58 percent of total capital raised, amounting to $1.29 billion, followed by senior debt and preferred issuances which totaled $680 million and $250 million, respectively.
Other retail and diversified REITs topped the charts among the REIT property sectors. Among the diversified sector, Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, Inc. raised $534 million through a common equity offering, while single-tenant retail REIT Realty Income Corp. raised $680 million via senior debt offerings.
