Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced that one of its affiliates has entered into a management agreement with P.T. Wynncor Bali for the opening of an Andaz resort in Bali. Upon completion in 2016, the hotel will be Hyatt’s first Andaz-branded property in Southeast Asia.
The new beachfront resort will boast 144 guestrooms and villas within low-rise clusters and pavilions featuring impressive landscaping. Designed by international renowned architect Tierra Design and Japanese interior design firm Spin Design Studio, the property will offer a variety of amenities, including small intimate meeting facilities, multiple dining options, a fitness center, several outdoor swimming pools, and a spa.
“Located in an established, beautiful vacation destination, Andaz Bali will be a great addition to the Company’s resort portfolio. Andaz Bali will bring to life the brand’s mission of creating inspiring, indigenous experiences and immersing guests into the destination’s local culture with an array of unique activities,” Ratnesh Verma, senior vice president, real estate and development, Asia Pacific for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts said in a news release.
Besides the Andaz Bali resort currently under development, PT Wynncor also owns the Grand Hyatt Bali and Bali Hyatt, which is under renovation and will be rebranded as a Hyatt Regency. The company is a joint venture between PT Jakarta Setiabudi Internasional Tbk (JSI), JC Hotels Hong Kong, and the Hyatt International Corporation. Established nearly four decades ago, JSI is among the top players in Indonesia’s property development industry. As of 2013, the company managed 18 valuable properties with a total market value of approximately US $1.2 billion.
“We have worked with Hyatt for more than two decades, and continue to be very satisfied and optimistic about our current and future relationship with the company,” added Jefri Darmadi, commissioner, P.T. Wynncor Bali. “Working again with Hyatt is an honor for us, and we look forward to introducing Andaz Bali to the region.”
With a focus on the local perspective, Hyatt’s Andaz brand reflects a cultural scene and spirit of the surrounding destination. There are 11 such properties currently open around the globe, seven of which are located in the U.S.: Andaz 5th Avenue and Andaz Wall Street in New York, Andaz San Diego, Andaz West Hollywood, Andaz Napa, Andaz Savannah, and Andaz Maui at Wailea. Other Andaz-branded resorts are located in Costa Rica (Andaz Peninsula Papagayo), the U.K. (Andaz Liverpool Street London), the Netherlands (Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht) and China (Andaz Shanghai). Furthermore, Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills is expected to open in mid-2014, marking a first for the brand in Japan.
