The mixed-use development near SunTrust Park, the new home of the Atlanta Braves, will be called The Battery Atlanta. In addition to revealing the development’s moniker, the Braves also announced the first wave of restaurants.

The Atlanta Braves entered a joint venture with retail partner Fuqua Development, office developer Pope & Land Enterprises and Pollack Shores Real Estate to carry out the project. Plans call for 550 residences, an Omni Hotel, the reborn Roxy Theatre, a regional office HQ for Comcast, as well as 400,000 square feet of retail and office space. In the first series of retail announcements, the team revealed five eateries. Two of them, a Superica “Mex-Tex” restaurant and a yet unnamed steakhouse, will be overseen by Linton Hopkins and Ford Fry respectively—two award-winning Atlanta chefs. They join Antico Pizza, Cru Food and Wine Bar, Tomahawk Taproom featuring Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q on the list.

The name pays respect to the sport of baseball and the new park that will anchor the area—the term “battery” refers to the power and combined effectiveness of a pitcher and catcher.
