Dominion Cove Point Plans Patuxent Warehouse and Office

Dominion Cove Point LNG facility near Lusby, Md.

Baltimore—The Maryland Department of Commerce just announced, together with Calvert County officials, and Dominion Cove Point executives, that the energy company recently purchased land within the Patuxent Business Park in Southern Maryland. Dominion Cove Point is planning the construction of a 50,000-square-foot facility that will combine warehouse and office spaces. The project, which will break ground in late spring, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2016.

The Patuxent Business Park is a 92-acre business area in Lusby, Calvert County (Md.), about one hour and thirty minutes away from both D.C. and Baltimore. Designed to accommodate A-Class offices and flex space, the business campus was established in 2002 as the result of a partnership between the Maryland Department of Commerce, the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners, and the Maryland Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO).

“Patuxent Business Park is an excellent location for our new warehouse and office space. (…) It meets our needs for a nearby location with easy access to Route 2/4,” said Mike Frederick, VP of LNG operations for Dominion Cove Point, in prepared remarks.

The location is, indeed, strategic, as Dominion’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facilities stand just minutes away from the Patuxent Business Park. According to Maryland’s Chamber of Commerce, Dominion’s new Cove Point LNG liquefaction project is expected to cost around $3.6 billion and bring approximately $40 million per year in additional tax revenue for Calvert County.
