Stamford, Conn.Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. announced its expansion in Latin America with two Aloft-branded hotels located in Veracruz, Mexico’s main commercial seaport, and Queretaro, one of the country’s most dynamic, fast-developing cities. Aloft Veracruz will be developed by FibraHotel and is set to open in the end of 2017. Starwood teamed up with Inmobiliaria ARAT SA de CV for the hotel in Queretaro, which is scheduled for opening in 2018.

“Aloft burst onto the scene in the region in 2011, and we are on schedule to more than double our footprint by 2019, making it one of the most successful brands in Starwood’s history in the region,” said Victor Vazquez, VP of Latin America Development at Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

The new Aloft Veracruz will feature 165 loft-like guest rooms and it will offer free and fast Wi-Fi. It will also include all of the brand’s signature entertainment, food & beverage and wellness amenities such as Live at Aloft Hotels performances by local emerging artists, WXYZ-signature cocktails and snacks, a branded café, a fitness center, as well as an indoor and an outdoor pool.

The accommodation facility will be located in a busy area in Veracruz, right on Boulevard Adolfo Ruiz Cortines, across the street from the Veracruz Convention Center. The Andamar and Las Americas shopping centers are within walking distance. Designed for business and leisure travelers alike, Aloft Veracruz is slated to open in late 2017 and operate under Starwood’s management. “Starwood operates many of the industry’s most well-respected and innovative hotel brands, and also has a leading operating platform. We are excited to work with them as we continue to grow our portfolio of over 80 hotels in Mexico,” said Simon Galante, CEO of FibraHotel.

Aloft will expand its network for the first time in Queretaro, one of Mexico’s fastest growing cities. The new hotel will be located in Juriquilla, an industrial district close to Antea Lifestyle Center, an important shopping and entertainment venue. Scheduled to open in 2018, the hotel will feature the brand’s leisure and wellbeing amenities and it will be operated by Grupo Presidente, a Mexican company operating in the hospitality industry for more than 50 years.

“We are working with one of the best architecture firms in Mexico to design the hotel, which will allow our guests to feel at home, even when they travel for business with spacious areas for relaxing, such as the WXYZ bar, the patio or the pool. We look forward to welcoming our guests to the grand opening of the hotel and to Queretaro, one of the fastest developing cities in Mexico,” said Rodrigo Soto, General Manager of Inmobiliaria ARAT SA de CV.

Aloft is Starwood’s fastest-growing brand in Latin America. Its current portfolio in the region includes Aloft Bogota Airport in Colombia, Aloft San Jose in Costa Rica, Aloft Panama, Aloft Cancun and Aloft Guadalajara in Mexico, and Aloft Asuncion in Paraguay, which opened recently. Aloft also boasts seven hotels in different stages of development in three countries in Latin America. It currently has more than 100 hotels around the world.
