Atlanta—The AC Hotel Atlanta Buckhead at Phipps Plaza, the first AC Hotel in Atlanta and the first new Buckhead hotel in eight years, has opened at the corner of Peachtree Street and Wieuca Road. The six-story, 166-key hotel is the result of a joint venture between Noble Investment Group and Simon Property Group, and was designed by Atlanta-based Cooper Carry in a classic style inspired by its neighbors, Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza.
“There has been tremendous growth and transformation in Buckhead over recent years. The hotel design reflects its upscale surroundings and lifestyles of those frequenting the thriving corner of Peachtree Road and Wieuca Road. We think of it as the little black dress or navy suit adjacent to the high-end world of fashion,” Bob Neal, a principal with Cooper Carry’s Hospitality Studio, said in prepared remarks.
Located at 3600 Wieuca Road, NE.,, the hotel features sustainable technology solutions such as View Dynamic Glass, which helps reduce energy consumption. In addition, the building incorporates a plethora of amenities, including a library, lounge, fitness center and an indoor heated whirlpool.
The building has undergone several modernization and construction projects over the last year. Simon refurbished the interior and exterior facades, while Cooper Carry led the interior repositioning.
At the grand opening party of the hotel, Marriott unveiled a preview of the company’s new global campaign in collaboration with renowned fashion photographer Nigel Barker.
