Dominion to Build 60 MW Solar Plant in NC

Richmond, Va.—Committed to its long-term plan to bring online at least 500 megawatts of solar electric generating capacity in North Carolina and Virginia, Dominion announced it has purchased the development rights for the 60-megawatt Summit Farms Solar facility in Currituck County, N.C.

A subsidiary of Dominion Energy Inc. and wholly owned subsidiary of Dominion acquired Summit Farms from SunEnergy1, the project’s developer and construction contractor. The solar facility is located on approximately 650 acres near Moyoc, N.C., and has 25-year power purchase agreements with MIT, Boston Medical Center and Post Office Square Redevelopment Corp.

“We are pleased to partner with these three outstanding organizations to add more carbon-free generation to the electric grid,” said Paul Koonce, CEO of the Dominion Generation Group, which oversees 25,700 megawatts of electric generating capacity in 11 states, including solar in operation or under development in eight states. “We will continue to seek similar opportunities helping large and small energy consumers alike reduce their carbon footprint.”

CustomerFirst Renewables structured and negotiated the energy solution on behalf of MIT, Boston Medical Center and Post Office Square Redevelopment Corp.
