Detroit—Hilton and Kingsley Hospitality LLC have announced the signing of DoubleTree by Hilton Detroit Bloomfield Hills. Formerly historic Kingsley Inn, the 147-key facility will undergo an extensive $10 million renovation this fall. Slated to open in fall 2017, the new DoubleTree by Hilton will be managed by Hotel Investment Services Inc.
“We are thrilled to transform one of Michigan’s landmarks into one of the world’s top national franchises,” Zaid Elia, owner of Kingsley Hospitality LLC, said in prepared remarks. “DoubleTree by Hilton Detroit Bloomfield Hills will blend perfectly with the area and offer a convenient location for business and leisure guests looking for award-winning service near live entertainment venues like the Palace of Auburn Hills and upscale shopping at Somerset Collection or downtown Birmingham.”
Kingsley Inn was originally built in 1958 in the affluent residential community of Bloomfield Hills, a financial hub in southeast Michigan. The area is home to numerous Fortune 500 companies such as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Google and Volkswagen of America, and is conveniently situated near Detroit, Troy, Birmingham, Southfield and Pontiac. Only two miles south from downtown Birmingham, the hotel offers easy access to nearby attractions such as the world-renowned Cranbrook Arts & Science School and Museum, the Detroit Zoo, top-rated golf courses, restaurants, lounges and entertainment.
Designed by Neumann/Smith, The DoubleTree by Hilton Detroit Bloomfield Hills will be the brand’s fifth hotel in the Detroit area. Amenities include complementary Wi-Fi, a 24-hour business center, 24-hour fitness center, an indoor pool and a new Joe Muer Seafood restaurant. The hotel’s 11,396-square-foot flexible meeting space includes two ballrooms, as well as pre-function areas for breakout meetings, private lunches or cocktails. The Grand Ballroom features a spacious dance floor and the Bloomfield Ballroom can be divided into three separate areas of approximately 1,000 square feet.
“The DoubleTree by Hilton brand takes pride in partnering with developers to convert historic buildings to offer guests a unique experience and a piece of history, while providing the same globally-renowned service they expect from us,” said Dianna Vaughan, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton.
