OrlandoDeloitte Consulting has announced plans to expand its U.S. Technology Delivery Center in Lake Mary, Fla., creating 850 more jobs in the Orlando metro area over the next four years.

Coming off a deal from 2015, in which Deloitte was granted a $1.7 million package to create 1,000 jobs to attract people to the area, the company was given until 2018 to follow through with its part of the agreement. Having already met the goal, Deloitte has received a second $1 million incentive package for the area, in which Lake Mary and Seminole County will be splitting the incentive fund, paying $510,000 each once the 850 extra jobs are created.

“The Orlando area proved to be a great location for the U.S. Delivery Center,” said Bert Naquin, managing & center director, Deloitte Consulting, in prepared remarks. “We met our initial hiring goals in half the time we expected it would take and given the success of the center and to stay ahead of clients’ needs, we’re adding up to 850 new jobs to our Lake Mary Center.”

Deloitte plans to invest $24.6 million into modifying a four-story building for its tech development center, adjacent to the existing building it just moved into. Most of the positions will be in software development, systems analysis and information technology.

The money will be distributed as long as Deloitte meets the agreement of creating 150 jobs by Dec. 31 and the rest of the 700 jobs by the end of 2017. The positions need to be in place for at least four years before the company receives its first payment in 2020, which would end in 2022. Seminole County, the city of Lake Mary, CareerSource Central Florida and the Orlando Economic Development Commission partnered on this project.

“Deloitte’s growth in Lake Mary is an economic development success story. Their ability to attract the right talent speaks to Lake Mary’s well respected position as a business center,” said Lake Mary Mayor David Mealor in prepared remarks. “Deloitte’s continued growth is also a tribute to our City’s remarkable quality of life for employees and their families.”
