New York—The historic Renwick hotel in Midtown Manhattan has opened its doors to guests as the latest addition to Hilton’s Curio Collection. Once home to iconic artists and writers such as John Steinbeck and Thomas Mann, the 173-key property is the first New York City hotel to join the upscale collection.

Housed in a 1920s brick building at 118 E. 40th St., The Renwick is conveniently located just two blocks from Grand Central Station and close to Bryant Park, the New York Public Library and Times Square. The hotel has been fully renovated by design firm Stonehill & Taylor, and is owned by a joint venture between Meadow Partners and hotelAVE and managed by StepStone Hospitality.

“As one of the world’s most vibrant and dynamic cities, New York affords travelers singular moments unlike any other cultural destination in the world,” Mark Nogal, global head at Curio, said in a statement. “Thus, The Renwick is an ideal hotel for Curio’s first foray into Manhattan. Its artful, luxurious design epitomizes our commitment to offering travelers distinctive hand-picked properties, each with its own character and story to tell.”
