German Company to Develop $40M Plant in Georgia

Adel, Ga.—The Linde Group, a German manufacturer and supplier of industrial gases, has announced that the company broke ground on its new large-scale air separation unit in Adel, Ga. Company officials reported that Linde plans to invest $40 million in the development of the plant.

The new facility is expected to create up to 35 new permanent jobs in addition to numerous temporary jobs provided by the construction phase. The plant is scheduled to complete by the first quarter of 2019. “Linde’s commitment to create 35 jobs and invest $40 million in Cook County will have a strong and positive impact in our community and in our region,” Cook County Economic Development Commission Chairman and City of Adel Mayor Buddy Duke, said in a prepared statement.

The company has been expanding in the southeast for several years, supplying customers from its plants in Cartersville, Ga. and Aiken, S.C., with gas products. The new facility will help Linde add capacity as to support the medium- and long-term growth of key accounts and industries in the area. Linde currently operates more than 10 sites in Georgia.

“Linde is committed to investing for growth in the Americas. We have been expanding the market in the Southeast for several years, and chose the location of the plant based on its proximity to customers and the strong, pro-business environment in Cook County and the City of Adel,” Pat Murphy, head of Gases Region Americas at The Linde Group, said in prepared remarks.
