Cebu, Philippines—Lifescapes International has announced the landscape design completion of Robinsons Galleria, a multi-million dollar, six-story, 4,095,506-square-foot shopping destination, located along General Maxilom Avenue in Cebu City, Philippines. The project was developed by Robinsons Land Corp. and Asya Design served as the architect.

The design features unique elements such as a bubble wall with LED lighting, a 25-foot flower guitar, a lush year-round garden on each level of the center, multi-purpose screens and cascading water features.

“Retail owners continue to seek new ways to deliver immersive experiences that attract repeat visitors,” said Julie Brinkerhoff-Jacobs, president, Lifescapes International, in prepared remarks. “Our strategy was to deliver an environment that visitors can get ‘lost in’ and enjoy with friends and family time and time again. This approach strategically differentiates Robinsons Galleria from its competitors, resulting in an all-encompassing, entertainment-driven, destination where guests can shop, dine and socialize in one enclosed environment.”

Al Amador, senior principal & project designer, Lifescapes, notes that reducing long-term maintenance and costs were another objective of the forward-thinking design.

“We recognized the opportunity to save costs by incorporating a mixture of both artificial and real plants,” said Amador, in prepared remarks. “Anything that can be touched by a consumer is real; however, all out of reach plants are made of artificial materials. This strategy will reduce watering and maintenance costs without compromising the overall aesthetic of the retail environment.”

The property in located at the center of the Galleria Complex, a mixed-use development that includes three residential condominium buildings, business centers and a hotel. The Galleria houses more than 200 tenants of national and international brands including Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Selections, True Value and Toys R’ Us, six cinemas and a new Sun Court al fresco dining area including restaurants like The Chocolate Chamber, Azabu, Sans Rival and the Bohol Bee Farm.

Robinsons Galleria originally opened on Dec. 10, 2015 and the development took two years to complete.
