Colorado Premium Plans $21M Expansion

Carrollton, Ga.—Colorado Premium, a producer of premium protein products, recently announced plans to invest $15 million by the end of 2018 in a food processing plant in Carroll County, Ga. and create 190 jobs. According to The Greeley Tribune, the company is also expanding its existing plant in Greeley, Colo., by purchasing 20,000 square feet of additional space.

Colorado Premium acquired a former 130,000-square-foot bakery building in Carroll County for the new processing facility. The firm plans to grow its footprint to meet the needs of its many retailers that are expanding in Georgia. “We have been growing with our customers for several years and this facility will enable that growth and provide a better geographic shipping point for these customers,” said Kevin LaFleur, Colorado Premium’s owner & president, in a prepared statement.

The company is also expanding its footprint in Colorado, investing $6.3 million in its Greeley plant which opened in 2006. These investments represent the firm’s fourth major expansion in the past three years, with the Georgia plant being the largest. These latest deals will bring the Colorado Premium’s total of subsidiaries to five processing plants and two distribution facilities located in Colorado, Illinois, Florida and Georgia.
