InterContinental Hotels Group is expanding its international footprint with the addition of Kimpton De Witt, a 274-key hotel in Amsterdam, making it the first Kimpton property in Europe and outside of the Americas.
Nestled in the heart of Amsterdam, at Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 5, the hotel is situated near the city’s Centraal Station rail depot, which serves three metro lines and direct 15-minute trains to Amsterdam Airport Schipol. Kimpton De Witt offers easy access to Dam Square, Anne Frank House, the Begijnhof, Noordermarkt and a variety of shops and cafes at Haarlemmerstraat.
In addition to its 274 rooms, which includes nine signature suites in the original Golden Age buildings, the hotel also offers a three-story ‘Little House’ featuring two king-sized rooms and a living room. The hotel also has a signature suite, Penthouse De Witt, which is divided in two stories and has a more than 320,000-square-foot roof terrace. Hotel amenities include a fitness center, Gaiam yoga mats in every room and a complimentary all-day tea station.
“Europe was the original inspiration behind Bill Kimpton founding the brand and now we’re bringing the brand home again,” Angela Brav, IHG’s CEO, Europe said in prepared remarks. “Amsterdam as a city is effortless in design, highly diverse and a hotbed of creativity, making it the perfect match for our first Kimpton hotel in Europe. We’ll be bringing Kimpton to Paris next and have big plans for other cities across the continent,”
IHG recently appointed a new brand director to help with the company’s efforts to develop the Kimpton brand in Europe.
