After opening an 855,000-square-foot fulfilment center in North Haven, Conn., Amazon plans to open another 855,000-square-foot facility in Troutdale, Ore., to be developed by Trammel Crow Co. and Clarion Partners LLC. According to OregonLive, the $178.4 million project, will be the first of its kind in Oregon and will provide a much-needed economic boost for the eastern Multnomah County community.

“We are excited to bring our first fulfillment center to the state of Oregon, creating 1,500 full-time jobs in Troutdale,” Akash Chauhan, Amazon’s vice president of North America Operations, said in a statement. “Governor Brown, the city of Troutdale, and many others have been instrumental in our decision to locate the new fulfillment center in the area.”

$20 Million Land

At the moment, Amazon operates a sortation center in Hillsboro, Ore., and Prime Now hub in Portland, Ore. At the new 855,000-square-foot Troutdale fulfillment center, employees will pick, pack and ship items including books, electronics and toys. Earlier this year, Trammell Crow purchased more than 73 acres of land in the Troutdale Reynolds Industrial Park from the Port of Portland for $20 million.
