Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will open the doors to its 18-story Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel in Uptown Charlotte this October. The 217-key boutique hotel will be joining Kimpton’s other asset in North Carolina, the Winston-Salem Cardinal Hotel. Barings Real Estate Advisers and The Spectrum Cos. are developing the new hotel. With more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Robert Hannigan is set to lead Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel as its general manager.

Located at 303 S. Church St., Kimpton’s new hotel will front Romare Bearden Park and will be adjacent to the 25-story 300 South Tryon office building that’s expected to open late this summer. The hotel’s name is inspired by the proximity to Tryon Street, Romare Bearden Park and BB&T Ballpark. The asset will feature a fitness center, a ground-floor restaurant, more than 9,000 square feet of events and meeting space, including a 4,000-square-foot ballroom, as well as a 1,100-square-foot rooftop bar.

The hotel’s management

Robert Hannigan joined Kimpton in 2007 and held management roles at several of its boutique hotels in California, Oregon and the Washington, D.C., metro area. In his new position, Hannigan will oversee and manage all aspects of the opening and operations of Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel. Most recently, he was appointed general manager of Kimpton Hotel Monaco Portland, a 220-key hotel in Portland, Ore.
