Empire State Inks 108 KSF Lease at 1400 Broadway

The company secured international law firm Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy to lease floors eight through 10 at the iconic 37-story high-rise. Members of NKF represented both Fragomen and the landlord.

Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy LLP signed a 108,000-square-foot lease with Empire State Realty Trust for floors eight through 10 at 1400 Broadway in Manhattan. Fragomen is an international law firm with more than 40 offices in 20 countries, representing large Fortune 500 companies in industries ranging from technology to sports and entertainment. 

The 37-story asset features a total of 919,405 square feet of office and first floor retail space. Originally built in 1930, the property was renovated in 2010. Notable tenants include Kohl’s, Renfro Corp., Verifone Media and Burlington Coat Factory. 

Newmark Knight Frank’s John ShaunfieldSeth Weinstein and Paul Ippolito represented Fragomen in the lease, while Scott Klau, Erik Harris and Neil Rubin, in addition to ESRT’s Keith Cody, represented the landlord. 

“Fragomen joins a roster of high quality tenants at 1400 Broadway,” said Thomas Durels, executive vice president & director of leasing and operations for ESRT, in prepared remarks. “Fragomen was attracted to the desirable Times Square South neighborhood and the property’s 21st Century modernization combined with its unique building characteristics.”

Earlier this year, Empire State also inked a lease with Gap Inc., for 80,900 square feet at 111 W. 33rd St. in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood
