Cool Earth Solar, a SunPower commercial dealer, has completed a 196-kilowatt high-efficiency solar power system at 580 Executive Center in Dublin, Calif. The Helix Carport from SunPower is the solar industry’s only fully integrated carport solution, using high-efficiency, high-performance solar panel technology to help customers monetize available spaces such as parking lots.
The fully integrated SunPower Helix Carport system will power 580 Executive Center, a co-working space with executive suites and virtual offices for business professionals in the region. The project includes LEDs attached to the carport to provide superior lighting in the parking lot. The installed solar system is expected to pay for itself in under five years and save the company more than $2.7 million over the life of the system.
“The 580 Executive Center was a perfect candidate for solar,” Rob Lamkin, Cool Earth Solar CEO, said in prepared remarks. “Their large parking lot, high energy consumption and ability to take advantage of the solar tax credit will enable them to reduce their electricity bill and free up capital for their business.”
“We decided to work with Cool Earth Solar because we knew that they would build us a solar project that we were proud of and it’s turned out to be the sleekest carport I’ve ever seen, making our building look more high-tech,” added Kevin Ring, 580 Executive Center director. “After construction of the project, a beautifully built solar carport stood to shade a large parking lot for professionals who work at 580 Executive Center. We are very excited about the immediate savings that will result from this solar system.”
