Green Street Power Partners (GSPP) acquired, from SunPower, a portfolio of New York City community solar projects in Con Edison’s service zone.
The first project to be completed is a 918-kilowatt rooftop system in Maspeth, Queens, capable to provide power for more than 150 New York City homes. Featuring SunPower Helix technology, the installation is expected to offset more than 20,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.
The project was originated by SunPower dealer Accord Power—also the provider of development and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services. Construction is set to begin on April 1 and scheduled for completion in late spring. GSPP will own the system.
“This project, along with the additional projects we are currently acquiring, will have a profound impact on our company while helping us achieve our goals of being a leader in community solar, and commercial and industrial solar markets,” Scott Kerner, co-founder & CEO of GSPP, said in prepared remarks.
