Marriott International’s latest expansion in Austin, Texas, features the dual-branded AC Hotel Austin and The Otis Hotel, an Autograph Collection hotel. The complex, located at 1901 San Antonio St., along the southwest edge of University of Texas at Austin’s campus, is anticipated to open in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The two hotels, developed by White Lodging, will boost the city’s accommodation inventory by a combined 347 rooms: 191 rooms including 29 suites at The Otis, and 156 rooms including two suites at AC Hotel. The dual-branded hotel will feature more than 7,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, as well as a 3,480-square-foot ballroom and five smaller meeting rooms.
European breakfasts and vinyls
The Otis Hotel’s design is inspired by the city’s artists and music scene, as well as the neighboring University of Texas Longhorn Legacy. The building will include natural elements such as copper and a 4,000-square-foot rooftop deck equipped with an outdoor pool, cabanas, a bar and terrace. In addition, guestrooms will feature in-room record players for the guests to select LPs from the hotel’s curated vinyl library. Furthermore, a full-service restaurant and bar will be located on the hotel’s first floor.
AC Hotels by Marriott, founded in 1998, finds its inspiration in classic European design. AC Hotel Austin will offer guests the brand’s European-inspired breakfast concept at AC Kitchen and signature cocktails and tapas at AC Lounge—a bar situated on the second floor with outdoor seating and shared access to the hotel’s restaurant.
