Transwestern announced it has named Thomas Lawyer as president of Transwestern Commercial Services. Lawyer joins the firm from JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he served as vice chairman of the company’s Real Estate Banking Group. The real estate veteran will lead Transwestern’s 35 nationwide offices.

Prior to JPMorgan Chase, Lawyer spent close to a decade at Citibank, where he held the position of managing director, commercial real estate finance, overseeing the national origination platform and operations of a national loan portfolio. Earlier in his career, he worked at various banks and real estate companies, where he gained experience in multifamily, retail, office and industrial portfolio operations, management, mergers and acquisitions and workouts.

“I have known Transwestern and its leadership for many years and have always been impressed by their commitment to service excellence and integrity,” said Lawyer in a prepared statement. “Retaining a strong, consistent corporate culture is no easy task as a company expands in breadth and depth, but Transwestern has succeeded in doing so.”

Transwestern just signed a 7,211-square-foot lease to relocate its New Jersey offices to a two-building office campus in Florham Park, N.J.
