Saban Capital Group has sold the Charleston Federal Courthouse Annex, a 60,251-square-foot government office building, to Easterly Government Properties for $24 million, according to public records. The new owner has chosen Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer to manage the property.
Located at 85-87 Broad St. in Charleston, S.C., the building is situated in the city’s central business district. The property is connected via public transportation links to the wider metro area. The surrounding area offers a wide variety of restaurants, shops, bars and hotels.
The property, originally known as Josiah Smith Tenement, was constructed in 1792. Originally a home, the building became a U.S. District Court location in 1999, according to Post and Courier. The structure’s lease to the U.S. General Services Administration is set to expire in 2019, with the option to extend by 10 or 20 years.
Last year, Easterly picked up a nearly 170,000-square-foot FBI field office in Salt Lake City. Following that transaction, the firm became the largest private owner of FBI offices around the country.
