Google Inks 362 KSF Lease in Boston
The internet giant signed a 15-year lease at Boston Properties’ 325 Main St. redevelopment project in Cambridge, slated for completion in 2022.
Google has signed a 15-year lease at Boston Properties’ Kendall Center in Cambridge, Mass. The tech giant will occupy 362,000 square feet at the building, which will serve as additional office space for the company’s growing Cambridge office.
Located at 325 Main St., the new 16-story property will feature 400,000 square feet once completed, replacing the existing four-story building currently on site. Construction is anticipated to begin later this year, with delivery slated for a 2022 completion date.
The deal brings Google’s total footprint with Boston Properties to more than 800,000 square feet in Cambridge. Google opened its first office in the town in 2003 and has grown to more than 1,500 employees at the location.
Boston Properties will upgrade public spaces as part of the redevelopment plan, including increased visibility and access to the Kendall Square Roof Garden, and improved pedestrian experience along Main Street and on the adjacent Kendall Plaza.
“(Google’s) presence adds to the dynamic innovative spirit of the Kendall Square ecosystem and we look forward to building Google’s newest home,” said Bryan Koop, executive vice president at Boston Properties, in prepared remarks.
Boston Properties recently sold an eight-story, roughly 179,000-square-foot office property in Rockville, Md., to Rubenstein Partners for $22.7 million.
