Architecture Firm Signs Lease at Historic Dallas Building
SHM Architects PLLC will move its headquarters to the Energy Square campus.
GlenStar and USAA Real Estate have inked a long-term, 12,218-square-foot lease with SHM Architects PLLC at their historic Meadows Building in Dallas. JLL worked on behalf of the landlords, while Transwestern represented the Dallas-based design firm.
SHM will be moving its headquarters from the Knox District, relocating to the penthouse floor of the new premises. The current tenant roster of the Meadows Building comprises numerous architecture and design firms, including GGO Architects, Munn Harris Architects and Boulder Associates, among others.
Built in 1955 on a 3.8-acre site at 5646 Milton St., the mid-century property was designed by local architect J.N. MacCammon. The nine-story building was the first suburban office tower in Dallas and originally served as the headquarters of General American Oil Co.
The property is part of the Energy Square corporate campus, which encompasses more than 1.1 million rentable square feet across five buildings. Recent renovations at the development include a 10,000-square-foot fitness center, a conference center, tenant lounges and revamped delis.
The JLL team involved in the lease transaction included President Jeff Eckert, Managing Director Blake Shipley, Senior Associate Haley Hullett and Analyst Ayanna Jarvis. Transwestern’s group was led by Principal Michael Griffin and Associate Ethan Minter.
