Relativity Space, an aerospace manufacturing company based in Los Angeles, announced it has inked a deal for 1 million square feet for its new headquarters in Long Beach, Calif. The company signed a new lease at Goodman Commerce Center, an industrial campus owned by Goodman Group.

The company’s new headquarters is a 93-acre site that was formerly used to manufacture Boeing military transport aircrafts. Relativity, the first company in the world to 3D print an entire rocket, is working with design firm Gensler on its new digs, which has the capacity to house more than 2,000 employees. The new facility will also include lab space, a machine shop, a mission control center, and the company’s proprietary metal 3D printers, the largest in the world, according to the company.

The aerospace company will move into its new headquarters in January 2022 and will continue to use its current Long Beach space for production needs.

The news comes on the heels of Relativity closing a $650 million fundraise. In addition to its Long Beach location, Relativity has office in Vandenberg, Calif.; Seattle; Washington, D.C.; Stennis, Miss.; and Cape Canaveral, Fla.

The new headquarters is located within the Globemaster Corridor Specific Plan, a planned 437-acre business district that recently got the green light from the Long Beach City Council. Relativity’s new space was sustainably redeveloped without implementing large scale demotion and new construction, according to Goodman Group.

Goodman North America CEO Anthony Rozic said in prepared remarks that Relativity’s adaptive reuse of the property is part of the company’s focus on sustainability by retooling existing sites to have a lower environmental impact.

Last month, Goodman broke ground on a 1.5 million-square-foot logistics facility in Orange County. Dubbed Goodman Logistics Center Fullerton, the LEED-certified property spans four buildings and will include sustainable design features including electric vehicle charging stations, motion detected lighting and a solar ready roofing system.
