Alliant Energy Corp. Acquires 300MW Wind Project in Iowa
The wind facility consists of 100 to 150 slow-spinning wind turbines spread across 30,000 acres that will produce enough electricity to power nearly 102,000 U.S. homes.

Apex Clean Energy sold its Upland Prairie Wind project to Interstate Power and Light Co., a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corp. The 300-megawatt project occupies 30,000 acres in the northwest Iowa counties of Clay and Dickinson, and is slated for completion in 2018.
The Upland Prairie Wind project will consist of 100 to 150 slow-spinning wind turbines that will produce enough electricity to power nearly 102,000 U.S. homes. It is estimated that hundreds of local jobs will be created during construction and upon completion up to 15 full-time permanent jobs will be available for operations and maintenance. Once finalized, the wind farm will be operated by Alliant.
“We are bringing more clean and cost-competitive wind energy to our customers,” said Doug Kopp, president of Alliant Energy’s Iowa energy company. “In addition, this project will add millions of dollars in additional property taxes to the local communities and lease payments to landowners.”
