The Aloft Hotel in Tempe, Az., has become Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ seventh LEED-certified property. It is the first certified property amongst the 40-hotel Aloft brand.
“Environmentally-conscious development has never been more important than in today’s business environment,” Triyar Hospitality CEO Michael Mahoney said when announcing the news. Triyar is the developer of Aloft Tempe. The hotel is owned in a joint venture between Triyar and Warburg Pincus Real Estate I, L.L.P., a private equity fund.
Starwood says it is rolling out green initiatives across its entire portfolio, aiming at conserving energy and water, reducing waste, and enhancing indoor environmental quality.
