Tampa, Fla. —Atkins, a global leader in design, engineering and project management, has chosen George Nash to lead its North America region. Nash, who leaves AECOM for Atkins, will take over as CEO effective Oct. 31.

Registered professionally as an engineer, Nash has lent his talents to several industries for more than three decades. At AECOM he was group president of energy, infrastructure and industrial construction. Before joining AECOM, he was president and COO of URS Corp.’s energy and construction division. In addition to the federal environmental business line, Nash’s division at URS Corp. oversaw oil and gas, power, industrial, infrastructure and mining.

Nash began his career with Stone & Webster’s power business unit, focusing on project and program development. Later in his career, while presiding over Washington Group Intl.’s power business unit, Nash engineered the unit’s 2007 merger with URS Corp.

In a prepared release Atkins’ current CEO Uwe Krueger said, “An accomplished executive in the infrastructure industry, Mr. Nash has demonstrated ability in executive leadership, operations and business development. His knowledge, expertise and collaborative approach will be instrumental in addressing some of North America’s most complex infrastructure challenges and in further growing our business there.”
