Avison Young Expands in Eastern Europe
This is the Canadian company's first office in Romania, tenth in Europe and 80th globally. David Canta, managing director & principal, will lead local efforts.
Avison Young has opened a new office in Bucharest, Romania, that will facilitate multimarket transactions on both sides of the Atlantic. The office will be led by Principal & Managing Director David Canta. He will focus on overseeing the growth and development of the company’s presence in Romania, servicing new and existing clients and managing day-to-day operations.
Prior to joining the company, Canta was associate director & co-founder of Momentum Consulting, a commercial real estate brokerage firm in Bucharest. Before this, he served as broker for CBRE’s Bucharest office. He specializes in landlord and tenant representation in the office and industrial property sectors. Canta contributed to closing leasing transactions worth in excess of $110 million on behalf of leading fast-moving commercial goods companies, as well as IT, advertising, finance, outsourcing and logistics firms.
The new office is located within Global Worth Plaza, at 42 Pipera Road in Bucharest’s new central business district, and represents Avison Young’s first office in Romania, 10th in Europe and 80th globally. The company occupies the second floor of the Class A multi-tenant building completed in 2010.
“Avison Young’s entrepreneurial and collaborative culture resonates well with the way we conduct business in Romania. We believe that our clients will be better served by tapping into Avison Young’s global resources,” said Canta in a prepared statement.
“We believe that Bucharest is an underserved market, offering great potential for increased local, national and international investment. Bucharest, which has a young, educated workforce, is a gateway to Eastern and Central Europe and aligns well with our other European operations,” added Mark Rose, chair & CEO of Avison Young.
