Avison Young Strengthens SoCal Growth with New VP

Los Angeles—Mary Tamaki has joined Avison Young in downtown Los Angeles as vice president of marketing and communications for Southern California. In her new role, Tamaki will lead the marketing team and build a business development platform.

“Mary joins us at an ideal time as we continue to grow in key markets throughout the West Coast.” said Christopher Cooper, Avison Young principal & managing director of the company’s Southern California region. “We entered the Southern California region in August 2011 and have since grown to more than 120 people in six offices, with 13 million square feet of commercial space in agency leasing and 5 million square feet-plus under property management today.”

Tamaki brings 20 years of corporate experience as a creative leader in brand building and strategic marketing for global commercial real estate companies. She has a track record of designing and executing marketing, communications and business development programs, and is now focused on mobilizing new technology and digital media for regional brand building.

Tamaki joins from JLL where she served as vice president of business development marketing in Los Angeles. Prior to joining JLL, she oversaw international client engagement strategies and branding as global marketing and communications director for Cushman & Wakefield, where she also led the international rebranding of a newly merged global entity. Tamaki was also in charge of global rebranding of CBRE earlier in her career. She was founder & creative director of IMJ Studios, where she developed marketing strategies for various clients including CBRE, Colliers International, Transwestern and JLL.

A graduate of the Otis Art Institute of the Parsons School of Design, Tamaki is also a member of the American Marketing Association, the American Institute of Graphic Artists and CoreNet Global.
