Belgium Food Science Company Coming to Chicago
The firm will open an innovation center at Condor Partners’ Mural Park, an upcoming creative office building in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood.
Puratos, a Belgium-based international food science company, has closed a 6,668 square-foot lease at Mural Park in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. The firm plans to open an innovation center at the 200,000-square-foot creative office property once Condor Partners completes construction. Transwestern, which was tapped last year to lease Mural Park, represented the landlord in the transaction.
“This location offered Puratos a perfect mix of affordable rents, dynamic space and proximity to the central business district,” said Dowdell in a prepared statement. “The transaction, coupled with Five Rabbit Ceverceria’s recent lease, brings our first building, 1901 S. Sangamon, to 18 percent preleased.”
The property is an adaptive reuse located at 1901-1911 S. Sangamon St. The site originally consisted of two industrial facilities dating from the early 1900s. Condor is in the process of converting the properties into Class A brick and timber office buildings. Planned amenities include open green spaces, cafe, rooftop deck with skyline views, flexible furnishings and innovative technology.
Mural Park’s tenants will also have access to interstates 90, 94, 290 and 55 as well as several CTA and Metra stations. The project is part of the City of Chicago’s “El Paseo,” a 4-mile corridor for bikers and pedestrians that connects the University Village, Pilsen and Little Village neighborhoods.
Senior Vice Presidents Jeff Dowdell and Katie Steele, together with Vice President Transwestern Vice President, represented Condor in the deal.
