Belk to Invest $40M in New Stores
The company also plans to remodel 12 existing stores across their 16-state footprint, investing close to $10 million. An additional $15 million in funding will be used for capital improvements.

Belk is opening three new stores through the end of 2018, as part of a $40 million investment in remodels, capital improvements and new store openings in 2017.
The company also plans to remodel 12 existing stores across their 16-state footprint, investing close to $10 million. An additional $15 million in funding will be used for capital improvements such as parking lots, paint and roofing.
Store openings
The three new stores set to open in 2017 and in 2018. The stores are:
- Mullins Colony Shopping Center in Evans, Ga.
- Greenwood Mall in Bowling Green, Ky.
- Valley Mall in Hagerstown, Md.
The new locations will feature a full range of national brands and private label fashion apparel, shoes, accessories, home decor, cosmetics and a wedding registry. Services will include a “buy online, pick up in store option,” phone charging stations and a service desk at the store entrance for access to gift wrapping, returns and Belk Rewards Card payments.
“We really want to be an asset to the communities in which we operate. Our goal is to build lasting relationships with our customers and associates,” said Lisa Harper, Belk CEO, in prepared remarks. “We want to provide personal connection in every community we enter.”
Another recent Maryland retail opening was Radcliffe Jewelers’ move to The Shops at Kenilworth in Towson.
