Brickell City Centre Mall: Come In, We’re Open!
The retail portion of Miami's $1 billion Brickell City Centre is finally open for business.
Miami—After four long years of planning and construction, the retail portion of Miami’s $1 billion Brickell City Centre project opened its doors for the public on Thursday, Nov. 3.
Spanning three city blocks in the fast growing 305’s Financial District, the 500,000-square-foot retail center was developed by Hong Kong-based Swire Properties in partnership with retail developers Whitman Family Development and Simon Property Group.
The three-story, open-air mall offers high fashion, dining and entertainment options. Saks Fifth Avenue is the property’s anchor tenant, occupying 107,000 square feet of prime retail space. The megastore is Saks’ third location in Miami and the first one to open in the city in 30 years. Other tenants include Cinemex—the sixth largest cinema chain in the world—who opened here the first CMX theater in the country, Miami’s first Italian food hall, which will take up three floors of the project, as well as major national and international retailers such as Sephora, Hugo Boss, Tommy Bahama, Agent Provocateur, Lululemon, Valentino, Pandora, Porsche Design, an Apple Store, AT&T, and many others.
The mall’s first floor is occupied by luxury brands, while the second and third floors house premium and contemporary retailers. The property also features a two-story underground parking garage that traverses streets in the lower level. A $30 million elevated trellis made of steel, glass and fabric links all the project’s components, creating a comfortable open-air shopping environment.
The massive Brickell City Centre development spans five blocks between 7th and 8th Streets on both sides of South Miami Avenue and east of South Miami Avenue on the north side of 7th Street. The project also includes two, 390-unit condo towers (called Rise and Reach), two mid-rise office towers, and the 40-story EAST, Miami hotel.
“Brickell City Centre is a destination in and of itself – with the hotel, cinema, and other attractions creating an environment where shoppers want to stay longer and make a day out of their visit,” said in a statement Debora Overholt, vice president of retail at Swire Properties. “We’re also looking forward to Brickell City Centre’s strong collection of men-specific retailers, with brands like Boglioli, Kiton, Baldinini, Stitched–which will have a scotch lounge–and Acqua di Parma, which will operate a barber shop within its store. BCC’s Saks Fifth Avenue will even have men-specific stylists and luxury dressing rooms.”
