Leading global contractor Brookfield Multiplex has been awarded the design and construction contract for Brookfield Place Tower 2, to be developed by its client and sister company Brookfield Office Properties.

The building, a 365,973-square-foot Class A office tower is the final phase of the Brookfield Place Perth precinct development in Perth, Australia’s central business district.  The 16-story Brookfield Place Tower 2 will be composed of column-free floor plates of circa 22,600 square feet, and numerous meeting and conference rooms.  Also, 110 parking spaces will be available. The office tower will feature a covered upper-level walkway across Mounts Bay Road, improving access to Perth Bus Port, Esplanade Train Station and Perth’s City Centre.

The project will have a five-star NABERS base building energy rating. NABERS, the National Australian Built Environment Rating System, is a government initiative to measure and compare the environmental performance of Australian buildings and tenancies. Rating observes energy, water and waste efficiency, as well as indoor environment quality.

The project is set to finish in 2015. Leasing agreements are in place with firms Deloitte, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, as well as Brookfield Multiplex, covering approximately 40 percent of the property.

“The addition of the second tower at Brookfield Place will complete a precinct aggregating 120,000 more than 1,292,000 square feet of office and high-end retail accommodation, food and beverage and service outlets to Perth’s CBD” declared  President and Chief Operating Officer of Brookfield Office Properties Australian Commercial Operations Kurt Wilkinson.

Brookfield Place Perth is among Australia’s top commercial developments. The CBD asset’s focal point is Brookfield Place Tower 1, an 807,300-square-foot, 45-story Class A office tower, inaugurated in 2012. The high-rise is anchored by BHP Billiton and has a 4.5 NABERS rating. Brookfield Place offers not only high-quality office space, but also high-end shopping and fashion facilities, as well as high-end dining in an appropriately restored historical area.

The value of the contract has not yet been disclosed.
