CBRE Capital Markets has appointed a new leader within its newly created data centers specialty practice. Kristina Metzger is the new senior vice president of the practice and will be based in the firm’s San Diego office.

Metzger will be responsible for building up the practice across three main lines of business, including investment sales, finance and investment banking. CBRE Capital Markets’ new specialty practice will provide services for data center owners, tenants, as well as investors, complementary to CBRE’s Data Center Solutions and Capital Advisors teams. Metzger will coordinate efforts to advise operators, investors and developers on, among other services, partial interest recapitalization and joint venture transactions.

Demand for data center investment has never been greater as aggressive foreign capital, institutional investors and infrastructure funds have started targeting the asset class. As many of these groups enter the space, they are targeting direct investments and joint ventures, recapitalizations, and the outright purchase of data center operating companies. There have never been more creative solutions to capitalize data center transactions than there are today,” said Metzger in a prepared statement.

Metzger has been working for CBRE for more than 12 years. Prior to her current role, she served as a member of the Data Center Solutions team since 2009. Within the department, she focused exclusively on the disposition and acquisition of data center investment properties. Metzger represented clients in transactions totaling more than $3 billion. Before that, she worked as a senior financial and analytical consultant within CBRE’s Financial Consulting Group, providing services to institutional, financial and corporate clients. She obtained a degree in finance from San Diego State University and serves as a member on Digital Realty’s and QTS’ broker advisory boards, as well as on CBRE’s Women’s Network Advisory board.
