CEMEX Headquarters in Houston Earns LEED Gold
About 20 percent of materials are recycled and water consumption was reduced by one-third with the use of efficient fixtures.

CEMEX USA’s Houston headquarters has joined the ranks of sustainable properties with a LEED Gold certification awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council. The award marks the company’s first office globally to achieve the status.
The six-story, 273,763-square-foot property located at 10100 Katy Freeway, owned and operated by MetroNational, was built in 2017. CEMEX USA is the first tenant in the building occupying more than 80,000 square feet on two floors since January 2017, according to Yardi Matrix data. Other tenants include Bancorp South, as well as a restaurant at the ground level.

The Cemex Building’s LEED Gold certification resulted from 62 points accumulated out of a maximum of 110. CEMEX USA has collaborated with architects at Inventure Design of Houston to develop the company’s office, using their own materials.
About 20 percent of the materials used in the development of the property are recycled. All electric equipment in the structure meets the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR certification, which has led to a 52 percent power reduction. Water consumption has been reduced by one-third with the use of efficient fixtures. Moreover, nine out of 10 work areas in the CEMEX USA offices receive natural sunlight.
“At CEMEX, our operations work each day with sustainability in mind, and that is no different at our U.S. corporate headquarters,” CEMEX USA President Ignacio Madridejos said in prepared remarks. “We are focused on reducing our environmental impact, and we are proud to work in a building that aligns with those values.”
