Fiberglass fabric provider China Hengshi Foundation Co. plans to locate its new manufacturing operation in Columbia, S.C. The company will occupy a former Boozer Lumber Truss industrial space. After an $11.1 million investment, 48 jobs will be created at the 111,000-square-foot facility. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project.
Located at 1440 Atlas Road, China Hengshi Foundation Co.’s new plant will be just off Interstate 77 and approximately 13 miles from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. The manufacturing facility is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2017, with hiring for the new positions to begin in the third quarter.
Founded 17 years ago, the company specializes in the research, development, production and marketing of several fiber-weaving products for export around the world. Primarily used in wind turbine blades, the company’s products are also utilized in space flight, aviation, construction, transportation, environmental protection and more.
Earlier this year, a BMW supplier decided to expand its Columbia, S.C., footprint.
