Creative co-working company Spaces chose Chicago to open its 14th location in North America. The company signed a 27,110-square-foot lease agreement with Newcastle Limited, the owner of the office building at 1500 N. Halsted St. in Lincoln Park. Spaces plans to move into the new location in early 2018.
Two teams of brokers from SVN and JLL represented the parties in the transaction.
First time in Chicago
The lease comprises the second, third and fourth floors of the office building and is the first location opened by Amsterdam-based Spaces in Chicago.
“We’re thrilled to be expanding the Spaces brand into Chicago’s robust business and entrepreneurial market. As our first location in the city, Spaces Lincoln Park is positioned right in the heart of it all and we’re excited to bring a contemporary, social and inspirational environment to the Chicago community,” said Michael Berretta, Spaces’ vice president of network development with the Americas, in prepared remarks.
In addition to a great location, Spaces will provide future tenants with a contemporary loft-style design and bright, open common spaces for networking. The building offers 15 on-site parking spaces and convenient access to the North/Clybourn CTA station.
Advisor Chad Schroedl of SVN represented the landlord in the transaction which brought the building to full occupancy. JLL’s Senior Managing Director Bill Rogers and Associate Kerry Gillar represented the tenant.
