CommonGrounds has opened its first Texas location in downtown Fort Worth. The company will occupy the entire ground floor of the building situated at 702 Houston St. Totaling 25,621 square feet, Common Grounds will be below XTO’s multi-story parking garage. The announcement marks the fifth opening this year for the coworking firm, as part of its $140 million expansion plan. Another 12 locations are under construction and expected to open later this year and into mid-2020. In July, CommonGrounds opened a 24,475-square-foot location in Burbank, Calif.

The property is close to several retail and dining options as well as public transit. The entry wall features a black and white hand-painted mural by a local artist. The space has plenty of natural light on all sides and several live plant walls, as well as team rooms, four video-enabled conference rooms and casual meeting areas. The workplace can serve 360 members in several configurations. CommonGrounds’ in-house creative team designed the space, Pacific Builders led construction and Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford was the local architect of record.

According to Jacob Bates, chief executive officer at CommonGrounds, Fort Worth is home to a relatively low number of coworking companies, while being the fifth-largest city in Texas. The metro is ranked among the top places in the nation to work, live and do business by several publications.
