Compass Datacenters Begins Construction of Phoenix Campus
The first phase will consist of two buildings set to deliver 72 megawatts of IT load. Ultimately, the campus is slated to offer more than 350 megawatts.

Compass Datacenters has kicked off work for its first two data centers within its planned campus in the Phoenix suburb of Goodyear, Ariz. Construction is projected to be completed in the last quarter of 2019.
The two buildings will deliver 72 megawatts of IT load and represent the first series of buildings of a master plan that will deliver a total of 144 megawatts. Ultimately, the campus, which is slated to spread across more than 225 acres, will offer more than 350 megawatts of power with an onsite 230-kilowatt substation.
The project is attractive to cloud and hyperscale customers due to its location, availability of fiber connectivity, affordable operation costs and the rarity of natural disasters. The City of Goodyear, APS, Greater Phoenix Economic Council and Arizona Commerce Authority have partnered to assist Compass in delivering the facility.
Earlier this year, Vantage Data Centers bought 50 acres of land in Goodyear, close to Compass’ project, where it plans to build the largest data center development in the company’s portfolio, set to exceed 1 million square feet of space. According to a recent CBRE report, the Phoenix metro area has the second-largest data center pipeline in the country.
