Construction Begins on Manhattan’s Second Hotel Indigo
The 90,000-square-foot hotel will be designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and will be located at 8-10 Maiden Lane in Manhattan’s Financial District.

InterContinental Hotels Group commenced the construction of Hotel Indigo at 8-10 Maiden Lane in Manhattan, after ground breaking was slated to take place last fall. The asset will comprise 90,000 square feet, a restaurant on the lower floor, a rooftop bar and 190 rooms, marking InterContinental’s second Hotel Indigo in the borough.
The 24-story hotel will be uniquely designed by Gene Kaufman Architect, striving to reflect the character of the surrounding neighborhood. The façade will be a mix of classic masonry and modern glass, with fine muslin interiors and a 19th century-styled cabinet placed next to the lobby. A unique addition will be a slim pole located on the building’s right, serving as a clock that will gradually light up as the day progresses.
“Our goal in designing both the exterior and the interior of the Hotel Indigo was to craft a unique environment reflective of the area’s vitality, past and present,” GKA Founder & Principal Gene Kaufman said in a prepared statement.
Neighboring amenities include restaurants, retailers, cafes, landmarks and banks. The asset is situated minutes away from Zuccotti Park, New York City Hall and the new One World Trade Center. Additionally, Fulton Street Station and multiple bus stations provide easy access throughout the entire area.
