Construction Starts on Embassy Suites Hotel in Northern Florida
The 255-key resort will rise next to the Pier Park lifestyle center in Panama City Beach, Fla. The property is expected to welcome its first guests in 2021.
The St. Joe Co. and Key International Inc. have broken ground on Embassy Suites by Hilton Panama City Beach, a 255-key hotel in Panama City Beach, Fla. The joint venture expects to complete construction in 2021. In 2018, Key International also delivered an Embassy Suites-branded hotel in St. Augustine Beach, Fla.
The development site is adjacent to the Pier Park lifestyle center at Front Beach Road, offering approximately 900,000 square feet of shopping, dining and entertainment. Rising near the Russell-Fields Pier, the new hotel will offer unobstructed views of the Gulf of Mexico. Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is 14.2 miles northeast.
Plans for the new Embassy Suites call for 255 guestrooms, a pool, meeting space, a fitness center, an on-site restaurant, as well as an upper-level social, catering and event space. St. Joe will manage the hotel upon completion.
According to St. Joe, the new development will deliver a much-needed hospitality supply, since Panama City Beach has been receiving an increasing number of tourists over the past several years. Furthermore, Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport surpassed 1 million passengers for the first time last year.
