Darlington Medical Building Partners is getting ready to break ground on a 75,000-square-foot medical office building in Atlanta’s Buckhead submarket. The development will be near Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, in an area that is experiencing momentum among demand for medical space. The Gipson Co. is the developer of Darlington Medical Center.

The ceremony is scheduled for June, while the opening event is expected to take place in March 2020. The upcoming five-story building will be located at 2025 Peachtree Road, along the Peachtree Corridor and close to Shepherd Center. The site is proximate to another building The Gipson Co. sold last year. Darlington Medical Center is set to accommodate multiple tenants in flexible 15,000-square-foot floorplates.

MOB in high demand

According to CBRE research, Atlanta ranked third nationally last year in terms of medical office deliveries. The city’s growing demographics led to an increase in demand for health-care projects.

This specific site is in the process of being remade. It made perfect sense for us to put a modern and architecturally distinct new medical building that will add to the amazing skyline changes that Piedmont Hospital and The Shepard Center have started,” said Jay Gipson, owner of The Gipson Co., in a prepared statement.

A lack of space in Atlanta’s medical office market, coupled with the strong demographic profile in Atlanta has led to high absorption and a 15-year low in vacancy rates,” said CBRE First Vice President Heather Lamb, who is leading leasing and marketing efforts for Darlington Medical Center.
