New York—It’s been a busy couple of weeks for New York City retail. Following in the footsteps of Starbucks and Steinway, which recently opened flagship locations in Manhattan, it’s now Davidoff’s turn.
The Basel, Switzerland-based maker of fine tobacco products and accessories celebrated the official opening of its new Davidoff of Geneva – since 1911 Downtown New York City store earlier this week. Located within the Brookfield Place office and shopping destination along the Hudson River in the city’s Financial District, Davidoff’s flagship location encompasses 2,000 square feet of luxury retail space. The store features a premium cigar retail space, flanked by a walk-in humidor and luxury lounge, as well as private lockers for customers to lease and store their personal collections.
Davidoff’s new Manhattan location features “The Artist”—a bespoke art installation celebrating the tobacco leaf by Dominican artist Pascal Meccariello. The store also incorporates custom lounge furnishings by Walter Knoll Germany and Poltrona Frau.
“The new Davidoff Flagship Store in downtown New York marks the culmination of an ambitious new direction for Davidoff, which brings our philosophy of ‘Time Beautifully Filled’ to life,” Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, CEO & board member of Oettinger Davidoff AG, said in prepared remarks.
“Our Downtown New York Store is an exceptional addition to our portfolio of six luxury properties, including two others here in New York, and luxury cigar stores and lounges in Atlanta, Las Vegas and our U.S. hometown, Tampa, Fla.,” added Jim Young, president of Davidoff of Geneva USA.
In order to celebrate the opening of the new flagship store, Davidoff has commissioned “The Downtown NYC Exclusive” cigar, available only at the downtown store for $25 apiece.
