Embassy Suites by Hilton joins Wilmington, N.C.’s new Convention District. The 186-key riverfront hotel is near the Wilmington Convention Center and occupies 162,866 square feet, including 6,600 square feet of meeting space. Virginia-based Harmony Hospitality Inc. owns and manages Embassy Suites Wilmington Downtown Hotel. Last year, Embassy Suites by Hilton also opened a 250-key hotel in Charlotte.
Located at 9 Estell Lee Place, the hotel is fewer than four miles from Wilmington International Airport. Guest suites feature a separate sleeping room, bathroom, living area, mini-bar, refrigerator, microwave, two flatscreen TVs, a dining table, desk and Wi-Fi connectivity. The first floor includes an indoor pool and fitness center, snack/coffee area and an atrium with seating, as well as a ballroom. The second floor incorporates a riverfront restaurant, boardroom and three small meeting spaces. Floors three through eight house the guest suites. There will be a 4,003-square-foot roof deck and bar on the ninth floor.
Steam Restaurant & Bar is the hotel’s 160-seat restaurant. No. 9 Bar & Restaurant will feature expansive views of Cape Fear River and downtown Wilmington.
Walkable area
Wilmington’s multiuse Convention District is anchored by the Wilmington Convention Center—the largest convention center on North Carolina’s coast. The area is currently home to multiple hotels, restaurants and retail, with more under development, plus an event pier, marina and riverfront park.
“Wilmington’s riverfront is transforming and attracting some exciting additions we will see come to life in 2018 and beyond,” said Kim Hufham, president & CEO of the Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau, in a prepared statement.
