HRI Properties LLC is the developer and owner of the hotel, which is located in the historic Plymouth Building, a city landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Formerly a multi-use office building, the structure underwent a multi-million dollar renovation. HRI Properties obtained the financing for the extensive rehabilitation project from locally-based U.S. Bank. The hotel’s operator is HRI Lodging LLC.

Situated in the city’s Central Business and Warehouse District, the new Embassy Suites by Hilton is directly linked to the Minneapolis Skyway System for a quick walk to offices, restaurants, shops, nightlife and both the Target Center and Target Field, home of the Timberwolves and Twins, respectively. The hotel also offers easy access to the Minneapolis Convention Center and convenient transportation to and from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and Mall of America via Metro Transit light rail.

The project’s design pays homage to the Plymouth Building’s original Beaux-Arts architecture, preserving such historic details as tall entry doors, marble guestroom corridors, granite staircases and oversized guestroom windows.

“Establishing this beautiful new hotel in such a notable building is an extraordinary way to expand our presence in Minneapolis,” Bill Duncan, global head, All Suites Brands, said in prepared remarks. “Like all Embassy Suites hotels, the upscale accommodations, free made-to-order breakfast and complimentary evening drinks and snacks will appeal to the city’s growing legions of business and leisure travelers.”

Amenities include: a more than 3,000-square-foot fitness center featuring cardio equipment and free weights; an L-shaped, indoor heated pool; a 24-hour business center; as well as on-site parking. The hotel also offers meeting and event space comprising 10 separate meeting rooms totaling more than 12,600 square feet of space, with the largest accommodating up to 350 guests.

The hotel’s lobby bar provides grab-and-go coffee service in the morning. Dining is available in the adjacent Lyon’s Pub, located on the lobby level. The English-style tavern offers tap beers, pub food, TVs and a weekend dance floor. Those preferring to dine in-suite may select evening room service or pick up snacks in the hotel’s 24-hour convenience store. Guestroom amenities include a desk with ergonomic chair, 49-inch TV, an oversized walk-in shower, microwave, mini-refrigerator and wet bar featuring gourmet coffee and teas.

“We are proud to bring the Plymouth Building back to life as an Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel,” added Tom Leonhard, CEO & president, HRI Properties. “This beautiful property stands out for the unbeatable combination of all-suite accommodations and high-end amenities that have given this brand its worldwide reputation.”
