Detroit—Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) announced Ford Motor Co. leased a large industrial building inside the Livonia Corporate Center. The 755,000-square-foot warehouse was previously occupied by digital innovation company Technicolor. Dan Labes, senior managing director at NGKF, brokered the deal on behalf of the owner, Ashley Capital.
“By using my resources within NGKF, along with those of Ashley Capital‘s acclaimed development and management teams, I was able to quickly assist Ashley Capital by securing Ford as a long-term tenant before Technicolor even vacated, leaving virtually no downtime for the landlord,” Dan Labes said in a prepared statement.
Ford will occupy the new space starting September 2016. Located at 28301 Schoolcraft Road, the property features multiple docks, ESFR sprinklers and is conveniently situated in the proximity of Interstate 96.
Livonia Corporate Center consists of two Class A buildings totaling more than 1,100,000 square feet. Ashley Capital has announced the construction of two new structures on the site, offering an extra 900,000 square feet of commercial space. The developments are slated to be completed in June 2017.
Ford Motor Co. has 67 plants worldwide and it is based in Dearborn, Michigan. Recently, the automotive leader announced the start of a complex, 10-year redevelopment project for its Dearborn facilities. Plans include building a product campus and a world headquarters campus. Upon completion, 30,000 employees will be relocated from the existing 70 buildings in the two modern, green, high-tech centers.
